Pan American Silver: 4Q Earnings Snapshot

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) _ Pan American Silver Corp. (PAAS) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter earnings of $169 million.

On a per-share basis, the Vancouver, British Columbia-based company said it had profit of 80 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, came to 57 cents per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 39 cents per share.

The silver mining company posted revenue of $430.5 million in the period.

For the year, the company reported profit of $176.5 million, or 85 cents per share. Revenue was reported as $1.34 billion.

Pan American Silver shares have decreased nearly 8% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $31.86, a rise of 33% in the last 12 months.
