Pancho Loco Mexican restaurant in Vernon closing; owner cites health reasons

Pancho Loco, a Mexican restaurant that has served tacos, burritos, quesadillas and margaritas at 218 Talcottville Road in Vernon for 26 years, will close on Feb. 24, the management announced on Facebook.

Owner William Goff wrote that his wife’s battle with breast cancer prompted the closure.

“Her prognosis is good, and she amazes me how strong she is battling the side effects of chemo,” Goff wrote in his announcement. “Her treatments continue to be ongoing for most of this year and I have come to the conclusion, my focus must remain on my family.”

He said he would keep a full inventory of food and drinks until the last day, and encouraged those who hold gift cards to use them before the closure date.

Hundreds of fans gathered online to mourn the loss of the restaurant and to wish Goff well.

“Pancho Loco was truly our home ‘Cheers.’ So many new friendships and great memories that we have in our hearts forever. Thank you for that. Family is #1 so we all understand,” one wrote.

Until the closure, Pancho Loco will be open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 3 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. The menu is at pancholoco.mobi.
