Panic Buying Leaves Supermarket Shelves Empty in Taiwan Amid COVID-19 Spike

The Taiwanese government increased the Epidemic Warning Level to Level Three following the recent jump in new COVID-19 cases, on May 19.

Taiwan’s Central Epidemic Command Center announced 275 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in Taiwan on May 19.

filmed a video that shows mostly empty shelves, on May 17. Local media reported that residents were stockpiling instant noodles, canned food, toilet paper, disinfectants and masks on May 13.
