Panthers-Falcons inactives: The latest on Carolina WR Adam Thielen’s status vs. Atlanta

The Panthers will have wideout Adam Thielen (ankle) in the lineup on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The veteran receiver was a limited participant in practice on Friday after missing Thursday’s workout with an ankle injury. Thielen was given a “questionable” tag entering the weekend.
With Thielen ready to go for the opener, the Panthers will have a wideout group that includes Thielen, Terrace Marshall, second-round pick Jonathan Mingo, Laviska Shenault and Ihmir Smith-Marsette.
Thielen’s availability takes the sting out of fellow wideout DJ Chark’s absence with a hamstring injury. Chark was a limited participant on Friday, but he was still ruled out after missing the first two workouts of the week.
Chark was listed as a starter on the Panthers’ unofficial depth chart throughout the summer. He sustained the hamstring injury earlier this month, placing his status in doubt for the opener well before Week 1’s set of practices.
Chark and Thielen were the only players listed on the final injury report entering the weekend.
Pass rusher Brian Burns, who is in the middle of contract extension negotiations with the Panthers, will be available against Atlanta, despite sitting out of two practices earlier this month. Burns practiced throughout the week leading up to the season-opener.
The Falcons will have a couple of notable absences with starting running back Cordarrelle Patterson (thigh) and cornerback Jeff Okudah (foot) missing the game due to injury. Charlotte native, guard Jovaughn Gwyn, is also inactive.
