Look at the results of any Northern Ohio PGA junior tournament and Gracyn Vidovic of Aurora is likely to be near or at the top of the girls' 13-to-15 age division leaderboard.

The Aurora sophomore was one of only two underclassmen on the Greenmen's tournament team. Aurora advanced as a team to the OHSAA Division I district championships with then-sophomore Brooklyn Millard continuing as an individual to earn runner-up honors at the state tournament.

Vidovic, a freshman in the spring, has won five tournaments in the Northern Ohio PGA this summer.

Her most recent victory was an impressive 5-over par 76 at Eagle Creek Golf Club in Norwalk. Vidovic had 13 pars on her scorecard.

Madolyn Kost of Kent, also a frequent top-10 leader in the girls' 16-to-19 division, earned a runner-up finish, posted a 76 on her scorecard.

Kost and Vidovic both won their age divisions at Fox Meadow Country Club in Medina. Kost fired an 81 and Vidovic a 77 on the par-72 course.

Justin Long fires an ace at Windmill Lakes

Justin Long, a PGA teaching professional at Windmill Lakes Golf Club in Ravenna, aced the eighth hole there recently.

Using his 7-wood to find the hole 180 yards away, Long's hole-in-one was witnessed by Michael Pope, Will English, Russel Phillips and former Kent Roosevelt boys golf coach Brent Pfeiffer.

This was Long's ninth career ace.

Jude Abbass scores hole-in-one

Jude Abbass, a 17-year-old member of the Aurora boys golf team, earned his first career ace on the sixth hole at Barrington Golf Club.

Abbass used a 7-iron on the par 3 sixth hole which measured 168 yards.

Rango Outing is August 17

The popular Rango golf outing, benefiting the Kent State men’s and women’s golf programs, is scheduled for Aug. 17 at Windmill Lakes.

The event fills fast. More than 200 golfers are usually on the tee sheet for the popular event that was started by Richard and Dennis Rango and features the post-round Rango Raffle of golf equipment, apparel and supplies led by Herb Page, retired KSU golf coach and Windmill Lakes Director of Golf.
