Par For The Course | Max Devins of Aurora wins NOPGA Junior tournament
This is the week to watch junior golfers in action prior to the start of the high school golf season.
Monday the Ohio Girls Golf Foundation tees off at Avon Oaks Country Club in Avon with both individuals and teams competing for top honors and scholarships.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, the Northern Ohio PGA holds the Kenny Novak Tour Championship at Club Walden in Aurora.
Finally, on Thursday and Friday, the 15th annual Matt Mishler Portage County Junior Amateur will feature local golfers teeing it up at Windmill Lakes Golf Club in Ravenna and Sunny Hill Golf Club in Brimfield.
Juniors receive gift certificates for competing in the Mishler as well as awards and certificates for the top three in each age group.
The registration deadlines for the OGGF and the Kenny Novak have passed.

Max Devins wins NOPGA Junior tournament
Max Devins of Aurora earned the championship in the boys' 16-19 age division at the NOPGA Junior tournament held at Chippewa Golf Course in Doylestown.
Devins, a junior for the Greenmen this season, finished at even-par after posting 1-under on the front nine and 1-over on the back nine.
Devins advanced to the OHSAA Division I tournament as a sophomore and finished 37th in the state.
Kenny Novak Tour
After competing in NOPGA junior tournaments throughout the summer, the Kenny Novak Tour Championship invites golfers who qualified to Club Walden in Aurora.
Advancing to the Kenny Novak Championship from Portage County were Devins, Parker Barrett and Chris Pollak (boys' 16-19) and Gavin Owens (boys' 11-13), all from Aurora, and Madolyn Kost (girls' 16-19) and Mitchell Tyger (boys' 16-19), both of Kent.
Portage County Amateur
The 92nd annual Portage County Amateur is a 36-hole, two-day tournament for golfers in high school and older.
The competition begins at Windmill Lakes on Saturday and concludes at Raccoon Hill on July 31.
