Parade of Veterans military tribute returns to Wings Over North Georgia for 10th annual air show

The 10th Annual Wings Over North Georgia Air Show took place in Rome, Georgia this weekend.

This year’s air show, hosted at Russell Regional Airport, features the A-10 Thunderbolt II Demonstration Team and the inaugural launch of the newly formed AirShow Racing Series.

According to a press release from airshow management, the show was voted USA Today’s No. 7 fan favorite air show in the world in 2021 and is also a top-rated fall event for northwest Georgia.

The air show performance includes military demonstrations by the A-10 Thunderbolt II, U.S. Air Force Heritage Flight Team, QYON Aerosports Team, B-25 Panchito, Jet Truck Show, Georgia State Patrol SWAT Helicopter Team, and Dobbins ARB 94th Airlift Wing.

Air show racers and aerobatic performers (Jive Kerby, Scott Farnsworth, Ken Rieder, Clemens Kuehlig, Buck Roetman, and Bob Freeman) also participated in the air show racing competition and performed aerobatic demonstrations.

The Parade of Veterans Military Tribute Parade also made a return for the 2022 air show after two-year hiatus. The parade honors those who have previously served or are actively serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.
