Parent says seeing the Queen's coffin was better than having her kids

A mum of two has said that seeing the Queen's coffin was better than having giving birth to her children.

Couple, Sarah and Mark, were among the last people able to pay their respects to the former monarch before her state funeral earlier today.

They were interviewed on BBC One by Sophie Raworth who asked them about the experience of seeing the Queen lying in state.

Sarah answered: "Amazing, I think it’s the best thing I’ve ever done in my life. Even having my children, Lily and Luca, I think this tops that. It was just amazing."

She also said that her mum was looking after their children: "I couldn’t find anyone to look after my own children, so I asked my mum. It just came over us and we said we’ve got to go."

They were among the thousands of people who have queued for days to see the Queen's coffin before the funeral ceremony.

David Beckham and Daniel Mays were among the stars to have turned out to pay their respects.

The Queen, who was Britain's longest reigning monarch, was laid to rest earlier today in a ceremony attended by dignitaries from around the world including American president Joe Biden.

Around 2000 people will gather inside Westminster Abbey for the funeral including members of the Royal Family, Prime Minister Liz Truss and Killing Eve star Sandra Oh, who is part of the Canadian delegation.

Millions of people are expected to have tuned in to watch the service with all the main channels in the UK apart from Channel 5 screening it.

Sky also simulcast the funeral across all of their main channels including Sky Atlantic and Sky Max.

The event is expected to become the most watched broadcast in history with many millions tuning in around the globe.
