Parents give away teen’s bedroom, TV after high-speed joyride

That’s one way to clean house.

A pair of Phoenix parents gave their 14-year-old son a unique punishment after he was caught taking the family car on a joyride: they gave away all his stuff.

According to Fox 10 Phoenix, Angel Martinez figured the best way to dry off his parents’ Range Rover while they were in Las Vegas celebrating their anniversary was to speed around the neighborhood.

After Phoenix police called the parents, likely bringing an earlier end to their Las Vegas trip than planned, it wasn’t long before Angle was in his family’s driveway wearing a sign reading “Sorry I stole my parent’s car and was speeding” as his clothes, bedroom furniture and TV were given away for free to passersby.

“He could’ve run someone over,” Ramon Hernandez told Fox 10 while explaining his reasoning behind the punishment. “Something really bad could’ve happened.”

While the boy might get a bed again down the road, for now it’s the floor or a couch. Luckily for him, he doesn’t seem to mind.

“It’s kind of weird, but I think it’s a fair punishment,” Angel said.
