Parents jailed after baby was exposed to ‘high levels’ of fentanyl, NC police say

A North Carolina couple face felony child abuse charges after their baby was exposed to “high levels” of fentanyl, police said Thursday night.

Salisbury Police said they were notified on Dec. 27 that the infant was taken to a hospital for a possible overdose exposure while in the care of the baby’s parents.

On Wednesday, police arrested the father, Phillip Wayne Ketchie, 31, and the mother, Felisha Nicole Robinson, 36, on outstanding warrants, according to a Salisbury Police Department news release.

Both remained jailed Thursday on $50,000 bonds, police said.

Police didn’t release additional details, including the baby’s condition and how the baby was exposed to the potent synthetic opioid. Police ask anyone with information about the case to call the department at 704-638-5225.
