Parents of OnlyFans model arrested and accused of evidence tampering in her boyfriend's murder

The parents of Courtney Clenney — the OnlyFans model accused of fatally stabbing her boyfriend, Christian Obumseli, in 2022 — were arrested and accused of knowingly accessing unauthorized evidence, prosecutors in Florida confirmed.

Kim and Deborah Clenney were booked into the Travis County Jail in Texas on Tuesday. They are each charged with unauthorized access to a computer, a third-degree felony in Florida, according to the arrest warrant, obtained by NBC News.

Investigators said they discovered a group chat among Kim Clenney, Deborah Clenney and their daughter’s attorneys after they received warrants to access the iCloud accounts of the family. The group sent multiple text messages discussing how to access a laptop that belonged to Obumseli, authorities said.

"Will be sending the laptop PIN ideas so we can try them before you see her again?" investigators said Kim Clenney wrote on Sept. 26, 2022.

Several days later, he asked the group chat again for any password suggestions, authorities said. Frank Prieto, one of Courtney Clenney's lawyers, replied with six options, they said.

"These were possible ... was not sure about capitalization or spacing but there are the ones she could come up with," Prieto wrote, according to investigators. "I would try all together and mix some of the capitalization and see if we get lucky."

On Sept. 30, 2022, investigators said, Kim Clenney texted the group: "Hell yeah! That PIN worked!" Prieto then cautioned him against going through the computer's contents.

"I had barely opened it and was starting to poke around, but we started a video call so I stopped. Never opened a file so, I didn't see anything," Kim Clenney replied, according to authorities.

The discussion turned to the custody of the laptop, investigators said. Prieto said he would pick up the laptop in Dallas the following week "in the abundance of caution," they said.

According to authorities, Deborah Clenney texted the group chat on Oct. 6, 2022, "I will be making the drive to Dallas tomorrow to drop off the laptop." Prieto, they said, replied: "Ok. Sounds good. The earlier the better."

Messages coordinating the transfer of Obumseli's laptop were sent between Deborah Clenney and Prieto the following day, including location, travel updates and estimated times of arrival, according to the documents.

"Hey Deborah. Good seeing you today. I forgot to have you sign a property receipt for turning over the laptop. I will get one to you next week to sign. Thank you for bringing it to Dallas area," Prieto texted the group chat several hours later, authorities said.

An attorney for Courtney Clenney said the "Clenney family has been targeted with some trumped up charges to discredit them in the press and make their lives miserable.”

"It appears excessive in that the family is now confined in jail awaiting an extradition hearing on what may be an attempt to manipulate media headlines and discredit them before Thursday's scheduled hearing on a gag order in the case," the attorney said in a statement sent to NBC South Florida.

Courtney Clenney has been charged with second-degree murder with a deadly weapon after a physical altercation left Obumseli dead from a fatal stab wound in their Miami apartment on April 3, 2022. Her lawyers claim it was an act of self-defense.

The couple had been dating since November 2020. Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle has said it was an “extremely tempestuous and combative” relationship.

The building management of their apartment complex documented multiple loud arguments. Clenney is alleged to have kicked Obumseli out of the apartment a week before the stabbing over abuse allegations.

NBC News obtained cellphone recordings Obumseli made before his death in which Clenney calls him a racial slur during an intense argument. The Obumseli family attorney has said the recording shows Clenney was "out of control" and "unhinged."

Courtney Clenney has in the Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Center since August 2022.
