Parents of ‘Real Housewives’ star involved in domestic dispute in Florida, police say

Kim Zolciak-Biermann is experiencing some drama away from the cameras.

The former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star’s father, Joseph Zolciak, was arrested in Cantonment, Florida, Monday night after an altercation with his wife of 45 years, the reality star’s mother.

Zolciak, 66, was charged with battery and booked into Escambia County Jail in Pensacola and later released on $1,000 bond.

According to a police report from the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call at the Zolciaks’ home at around 7:45 p.m.

When they arrived, they met with Karen Zolciak, who provided a sworn statement, saying they began to argue about his talking to a female neighbor. Things escalated, and she said her husband pushed her, causing her to fall into an antique table.

The complaint says the deputy observed “a minor cut” on the right side of her head that was bleeding. Karen Zolciak, who said she had two glasses of wine before the incident, was given paperwork on domestic violence and taken to the hospital for treatment.

The deputy also spoke to Joseph Zolciak, who agreed that his wife was upset about him talking to a neighbor. But Zolciak said he Karen was injured after he tried to move her away from the TV set and she fell, according to the arrest affidavit.

Joseph Zolciak was placed under arrest. A court date is set for Nov. 29.

Kim Zolciak likely won’t be flying to Florida to ease the situation. The reality star, who lives in the Atlanta area with her former NFL player husband Kroy Biermann and their six kids, has said she is estranged from both her mother and father.

Viewers may recall this couple, who were featured on the wedding episode of Bravo’s 2012 special “Don’t Be Tardy for the Wedding.” Kim and her mother famously butted heads when Karen complained that guests had to use bathroom trailers and were not allowed in her home. But Mom went in the house anyway and was barred by a security guard. Kim ended up calling the cops and had her escorted out.

Problems with her father arose back in 2017 after Joe Zolciak gave an interview to gossip magazine In Touch Weekly, saying he disagreed with his daughter’s decision to keep a dog that had bitten her then 5-year-old son, Kash.

“Shame on them,” he told the media outlet. “You don’t know if it’s going to happen again.”

After the article came out, the newlywed tweeted: “It’s disgusting and sad. My parents haven’t been a part of my life or the kids for six years. They have never met Kash or our dog. I do know they will do anything for a dollar.”

The Bravo star told boss Andy Cohen on “Watch What Happens Live” back in March 2019 that the relationship hadn’t improved.

“I don’t talk to my parents,” said Zolciak, who has yet to comment on her father’s arrest.
