While children are getting seriously ill and dying from COVID-19, it isn't happening at the same rate as adults. This week alone, the Maryland Department of Health's COVID-19 dashboard reported an additional confirmed pediatric death and the first probable pediatric death. WBAL-TV 11 News has asked MDH to provide details on the children who died -- including vaccine eligibility or vaccination status. Meanwhile, the vaccination rate among younger children remains stuck below 50%. This data comes amid a new push to get more children vaccinated with the opening of a new slate of kid-friendly clinics, including a series set to launch at the Port Discovery Children's Museum next week.
