Parish Hill Jr/Sr High School to host veterans

Nov. 9—Parish Hill Junior/Senior High School will host its annual event honoring local veterans ahead of Veterans Day.

Veterans from the school's sending towns of Chaplin, Hampton and Scotland, as well as those from surrounding communities are welcome at the school between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 10. The school will be closed on Veterans Day itself in obser- vance of the holiday.

First, veterans will visit classes in US History, with the opportunity to bring his — tory to life for students by sharing some of their mili- tary experiences.

Then, a complimentary luncheon will be served to all veterans, and their spous-

es, in the school cafeteria.

The final event of the day is a ceremony on the school grounds at the flagpole and monument. The granite monument, funded by private donations and the school's Student Government Association, was installed in 2015 to honor all veterans from the tri-town area who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.

Two of the school's own

veterans, Superintendent Kenneth Henrici and histo ry teacher Brian Evans, will speak at the ceremony. The Parish Hill Chorus will sing the national anthem, and a member of the Parish Hill band will play "Taps."

For more information on the commemoration, or to reserve a seat at the lun cheon, call the school's main office at 860-455-9584 by Wednesday.
