Parish Hill juniors honored

Sep. 15—CHAPLIN — Two Parish Hill High School students have been honored by the College Board National Recognition Program.

Owen Beaulieu and Angela Bojarski, who are both juniors at Parish Hill, were recognized for their academic achievements in school and for their test scores. The National Recognition Program conferred academic honors to both students.

Superintendent Kenneth Henrici said the work of both Beaulieu and Bojarski was "pretty impressive."

" These two juniors received a 780 and a 790, respectively, on the math SAT, out of a perfect score of 800," Henrici said.

The designation of honors status from the National Recognition Program can be included on college applications and scholarships and makes students stand out during the admissions process. Eligible students must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, excellent scores on the PSAT/ NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/ National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test), a score of 3 or higher on at least two AP (Advanced Placement) exams, and attend a school in a rural area or small town. Parish Hill High School serves the towns of Chaplin, Hampton, and Scotland.

"We're thrilled that Angela and Owen have earned this recognition," said Karen Abbey, the head of Parish Hill's math department. "We are very proud of them for their achievements in their classrooms and on their College Board assessments."
