Parish Hill preparing for new school year

Aug. 15—Parish Hill Junior/Senior High School is preparing to welcome students back for the 2022- 23 school year.

The first day of school for middle and high school students from Chaplin, Hampton, and Scotland is August 24th.

Parish Hill will follow current state and regional health district guidelines regarding the coronavirus.

" The municipalities within Eastern Highlands Health District are currently classified as ' low'," said a letter that was distributed to parents on August 3rd, signed by Superintendent Kenneth Henrici, Principal Brian Tedeschi, and School Nurse Bethany Duval. " Our mutual goal is to maximize in- person learning while maintaining a healthy and safe learning environment for all of our children. As such, we will adopt the optional TEST- MASK- GO strategy, which will give children and staff with mild respiratory symptoms the option to continue in- person learning under certain conditions. Furthermore, we are requesting that parents of students with seasonal allergies provide medical documentation to the school nurse to avoid the need for daily testing if mild symptoms related to seasonal allergies occur."

Teachers will return to the school ahead of the students for professional development, scheduled for August 22nd and August 23rd.

Parish Hill's athletic programs will begin after the first day of school, but before the end of the month. High school fall sports begin on August 25th, while middle school fall athletics start on August 30th.

Parents of high school students participating in fall sports can attend a parent meeting on August 22nd about the athletic program, while parents of middle school athletes will have their parent meeting on August 29th regarding fall sports.

More information about the school's athletic program can be obtained by emailing jkrot@ parishhill. org.

Back- to- school packets have already been distributed to families in the district. Medical forms and free and reduced lunch forms are due back at the start of school, and the user agreement forms for student Chromebooks are due back on September 9th.
