Parked semi rolls over Thursday morning due to high winds near Atwater

Dec. 16—ATWATER — A Pipestone man was injured early Thursday morning when a semitractor in which he was parked rolled over due to wind in Kandiyohi County, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

According to the crash report, Aron David Quilantan, 49, was transported to Carris Health — Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar for non-life threatening-injuries. A 10-year-old juvenile, also from Pipestone, had no injuries listed.

Quilantan had turned around his 2006 International semitractor on U.S. Highway 12 and was stopped facing eastbound near 180th Street Northeast in Gennessee Township near Atwater when his truck rolled due to high winds.

Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt at the time in the stopped vehicle and alcohol was not involved, according to the report.

Road conditions were snow and ice.

The Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office also responded to the incident reported at 2:08 a.m. Thursday.
