Parker Orgeron, son of former LSU football coach Ed Orgeron, joins Ragin' Cajuns staff

Parker Orgeron, a son of former LSU football coach Ed Orgeron, has joined new Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns coach Michael Desormeaux’s staff.

His title is offensive analyst. and he will assist with tight ends, a UL spokesman said Tuesday.

“Pumped up to be a part of the #cULture,” Orgeron wrote Tuesday on Twitter, referencing his new job status. “Let’s get to work(.)”

Orgeron played receiver McNeese for three seasons from 2016-18, but concussions – according to multiple media reports at the time – cut his college career short.

The Mandeville High product was a McNeese student assistant in 2019 and a player development intern since September 2020 at LSU, where his father was coach from 2016-21.

Parker Orgeron’s twin brother is Cody Orgeron, who concluded his career as McNeese’s starting quarterback in 2021.

At UL, Parker Orgeron will work under new tight ends coach and associate head coach Jorge Munoz.

Munoz previously spent 10 seasons at UL from 2008-16, including stints as pass game coordinator/quarterbacks coach (2008-10), receivers coach (2011-15, 2017) and offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach (2016). He wasn’t retained by former coach Billy Napier and spent two years – including the Tigers’ 2019 national-championship season – working under Ed Orgeron as an offensive analyst.

Munoz left LSU to coach receivers at Baylor under former Tigers defensive coordinator Dave Aranda, but was fired along with offensive coordinator Larry Fedora after the 2020 season. He returned to LSU as an offensive analyst in 2021.
