Parkgoers were evacuated from Six Flags Great America amusement park in Gurnee, Illinois, on Sunday after reports of a shooting.

The Gurnee Police Department confirmed to Insider there was an active incident.

In a statement provided to Insider, Six Flags Great America said three people were injured after shots were fired from a vehicle in the parking lot which then fled the scene.

"Park security personnel and officers from the on-site Gurnee Police Department Substation responded immediately. Emergency services responded, transporting two persons to the hospital for evaluation. A third person declined treatment," the statement said.
