How to keep your children safe at the fair

The Oklahoma City Police Department responded to four missing juvenile calls on the fair's opening day. All were safely reunited with their families, but police and the fair have some safety tips in case of separation.

First, anyone can pick up a "Project Reunite" wristband at an InFAIRmation booth and fill out parent or guardian contact information in the event the child wearing the wristband is lost.

Anyone lost will be brought to the Safety Center on the west end of the Administration Building at the corner of Land Rush and General Pershing Boulevard, according to the fair.

Police also recommend the following:

  • Have an emergency plan with a designated area to meet in case of separation

  • Take a current photo of your child to share with police

  • Dress your children in bright colors to be easily spotted

  • Educate kids on who they can trust, such as law enforcement and other officials

How much are the carnival rides?

For unlimited carnival rides, wristbands can be purchased at the fairgrounds or in advance at a discount.

Through Sept. 13, wristbands purchased online are $20 for Monday through Thursday or $35 for Friday through Sunday.

During the fair, wristbands will cost the following:

Monday – Wednesday: $35

Thrifty Thursdays (Opening Day & September 21): $25

Friday – Sunday: $50

Head to the state fair's website to find a full list of rides, their height requirements and the number of coupons required for those not purchasing wristbands.
