Those attending the Luke Combs concert at Beaver Stadium will have to pay a hefty price to park in lots surrounding the stadium. In some cases, a parking pass may even cost more than the actual concert ticket.

Luke Combs is bringing his “Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old” tour to Beaver Stadium on April 27. Fans of Combs will recognize hits such as “Beer Never Broke My Heart,” “She Got the Best of Me,” “Going, Going, Gone,” or his version of Tracy Chapman’s Grammy-winning song, “Fast Car.” Combs will be joined by Jordan Davis, Mitchell Tenpenny, Drew Parker and Colby Acuff. Tickets have been on sale since August.

Parking for the upcoming concert went on sale last week for purchase online, and prices range from $60 to $100, depending on the lot. Much like a football game, many lots will be available for parking.

  • $60 for lots 12, 22-26, 33-34, 37-39 and 45-47

  • $80 for lots 10, 32 and 44

  • $100 for lots 15-18, 31 and 41

These prices are for advance sales only — which can be made until noon April 26 — prices will increase by $20 on the day of the event. Some lots, like 10, 26 and 21, have already sold out, according to Ticketmaster.

Lots will open at noon the day of the concert. A one-way traffic pattern will not be in effect and attendees will be able to access Beaver Stadium lots from five entry points including Park Avenue from the east and west, Fox Hollow Road from the north, University Drive from the south and Porter Road from the south, according to Penn State Athletics.

Parking passes will be issued via mobile devices only.

How do parking prices compare to other local events?

Beaver Stadium, home of Penn State football, is the second-largest stadium in the country. It has a capacity of 106,572 and is the host of the “Greatest Show in College Sports” in the Penn State White Out each year.

For comparison’s sake, parking for 2023 home Penn State football games started at $50 for lots 11, 25, 33 and 34. Day-of-game parking passes for lots 25 and 35, which were subject to availability, started at $80.

To park in a Penn State lot during the Blue-White game this month is $20.

Although the Bryce Jordan Center holds significantly less people, parking prices for recent concerts there have been much less than the upcoming Beaver Stadium concert. Toronto rapper Drake performed at the Bryce Jordan Center on Sunday, and parking for that show was $20 day-of-event, or $11 in advance for lots surrounding the BJC (Jordan East, Stadium West and Port North lots). The same price points were in place for Zach Bryan’s show last month, which broke the BJC’s attendance record with 15,950 fans.

When Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band came to the BJC last March, pre-paid parking was available for $22 for lots around the center and day-of-parking for $30 at East Parking Deck.

For BJC events, there is typically no charge for parking with a valid Penn State parking permit.

How does Penn State determine parking costs?

Kristina Petersen, senior associate AD for communications, content and branding, said these parking prices are in line with similar events.

“Parking prices for the Luke Combs concert are in line with the industry standard for concerts of this nature,” she wrote in an email Monday. “There will also be parking available in the campus parking decks on show day for $40.”

This is the second concert to be hosted in Beaver Stadium; the first concert was in 2017. That show, Happy Valley Jam, included country music singers Blake Shelton, Chris Young and Big and Rich. According to a press release at the time, advance purchase parking in the “preferred” lot was $40 and $25 for general parking. Event day purchase was $30 for general parking.

When Luke Combs played at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh last April, most parking lots surrounding the stadium were available for parking at a rate of $50 per spot, according to WPXI.
