How to find parking near Golden 1 before Kings vs Warriors Game 5 in downtown Sacramento

If you plan to travel to downtown Sacramento as the Sacramento Kings take on the Golden State Warriors in a pivotal Game 5, make sure to pack your patience (and your cowbells).

The most anticipated game of the night, according to ESPN, starts at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The gates to Section 916, an outdoor watch zone on L Street, open at 5:30 p.m.

The area is expected to be packed with fans both before and after the game, said city spokeswoman Gabby Miller.

Parking could also be limited.

The teams are tied 2-2 in a best-of-seven series.

The Kings picked up their first two wins in Sacramento. The Warriors won Games 3 and 4 at the Chase Center in San Francisco, where All-Star point guard De’Aaron Fox fractured his index finger on his shooting hand.

The latest: Fox plans to play Wednesday night.

If you plan to use a ride-share service to get to the Golden 1, just remember prices typically surge when the demand for rides outweighs the number of available drivers.

Of course, you can walk to Golden 1 for free.

How to reserve a parking space near Golden 1 Center

City officials recommended having a parking plan before heading to downtown Sacramento.

The city parking website SacPark offers garage and lot reservations between $10 and $40 for Wednesday’s game against the Warriors.

Those who reserve a spot at a city-owned facility get a 25% discount from the flat or pre-pay rate, Miller said. If you don’t reserve a spot ahead of time, you’ll be offered a $15 pre-pay or flat-rate fee.

Reservations for city-owned garages will open as early as 3:30 p.m. for the 7 p.m. game.

The prices and hours of private partner lots vary.

Prices for city parking meters will decrease within a three-block radius of Golden 1 Center, Miller said.

Ride on Sacramento Regional Transit

For those who don’t want to wrangle a space, Sacramento Regional Transit will drop you off within one block of Golden 1.

Fare ranges between $1.25 to $2.50 per person, according to the regional transit’s website.

Remember: Light rail trains run on one-way streets in downtown Sacramento, according to the website. Passengers must board return trains in a different location than where they were dropped off.

Downtown Sacramento road closures

L Street, from Fifth to Seventh Streets, will be closed to drivers for the Kings outdoor watch zone.

Miller said streets won’t reopen until everyone is clear of the area after the game.
