Parks and Recreation stars Aubrey Plaza and Nick Offerman have reunited for a new Super Bowl advert.

The pair appeared both appeared in all seven seasons of the NBC sitcom, playing government employees April Ludgate and Ron Swanson until the show ended in 2015.

But now the pair have joined forces in a new advert for Mountain Dew, which has launched ahead of this Sunday’s Super Bowl (February 11).

Plaza leads the advert, addressing herself as "America’s sweetheart", and holding her bottle of Mountain Dew in a range of situations.

In the closing seconds, the advert takes inspiration from Game of Thrones, with Plaza riding a fire-breathing dragon alongside Offerman – who is sporting the famous Ron Swanson moustache.

The Parks and Recreation cast are no strangers to reunions, as they came together virtually in 2020 to make a special episode of the show during the pandemic.

Most recently, a lot of the cast members reunited on the picket line during last year’s SAG-AFTRA strike – with even Pawnee’s favourite miniature horse Li’l Sebastian joining the gang for some fun pictures.

Plaza’s latest project is coming-of-age film My Old Ass, which debuted with 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and received strong reviews at Sundance.

Meanwhile, Offerman is set to guest star in season six of sitcom The Conners, the spin-off of Roseanne, which stars John Goodman and Laurie Metcalf.

Plaza and Offerman’s team up wasn’t the only exciting TV reunion in this year’s crop of star-studded Super Bowl adverts, as an ad for Uber Eats features Friends actors Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer.

The advert follows characters, including celebrities, forgetting key information in order to "make a little room" for remembering that Uber Eats exists.

This included Jennifer failing to recognise her long-time co-star David… awkward!

Also appearing in the tongue-in-cheek ad are power couple David and Victoria Beckham, who were trying and failing to remember the name of the girl group Victoria was in. The Cinnamon Sisters, anyone?

Parks and Recreation is currently available to stream on Prime Video in the UK.
