Parks On Tap Opening Socially-Distant Beer Garden
PHILADELPHIA — We thought it wouldn't happen this year due to the coronavirus, but Parks on Tap is back for its fifth season in 2020 with a twist.
The traveling outdoor beer garden that gives back will adapt to social distancing rules for the new season by implementing a stationary beer garden.
The first summer-long location will open on Friday, June 12 outside on the grounds of the Fairmount Horticulture Center Arboretum, 100 N. Horticultural Drive. Other fixed locations may be announced at a later date, as well.
Parks on Tap at the Fairmount Horticulture Center will be open from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Friday and noon to 10 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday. Hours and days of operation may change due to weather and special events.
A free membership is required. Sign up for a free membership online here.
Food and drink are pay-as-you-go.
Seating is first come, first served. If the beer garden is at capacity during the time guests come to visit, a wait list will be established and guests will be encouraged to explore the park until they receive a text message that it's their turn.
Parks on Tap is family and dog friendly. The beer garden is 21+ to enter. Children, families, and anyone under 21 are welcome to participate if they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who has legal identification.
Parks on Tap will feature food, beers on tap, wine and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as chairs and restrooms.
In order to keep patrons and employees safe, new safety measures will be in place.
Parks on Tap will follow state regulations to operate safely and will adjust — if necessary — to the guidelines once they are released.
Social distancing markers will be measured out and posted throughout the garden and its outside fencing area as reminders for guests.
The free seasonal membership also allow for contact tracing if a local outbreak occurs.
Sanitizing spray and/or wipes will be accessible to patrons, so they are able to wipe down chairs and tables.
Staff and guests in the beer garden area must always wear a mask, except when seated.
Staff will be subject to temperature checks prior to the start of all shifts to assure they are safely able to work.
Additional cleaning standards will be implemented prior to opening, after closing and throughout the day by staff.
More details on how Parks and Tap will keep patrons safe are available online here.
