Parmer leads No. 8 Hardin-Simmons to 16th straight victory in ASC basketball action

RICHARDSON – Parris Parmer scored a game-high 23 points to guide No. 8 Hardin-Simmons past Texas-Dallas 67-48 in an American Southwest Conference game Saturday.

Parmer hit 8 of 13 shots from the field, including 6 of 7 3-point goals to spark the Cowgirls (19-2 overall, 14-0 ASC) to their 16th consecutive victory.

Natasha Blizzard added 16 points and nine rebounds, while Hermleigh grad Kiki Gonzales had nine points.

Anna Yellen led the Comets (13-7, 9-4) with 11 points. UTD was 0-for-13 from 3-point range and shot 27.8% percent from the field overall.

HSU plays at Ozarks on Monday.

Ozarks top McMurry

At Clarksville, Arkansas, Amanda Turpin scored a game-high 18 points, and Ozarks used a big second half to beat McMurry 80-61 in an ASC game.

Makya Perryman added 16 points for the Eagles (8-12, 5-8). Lili Garcia and McKenzie Green had 12 each.

Emily Holland led McMurry (10-10, 4-10) with 16 points. Helena Chadwick followed with nine.

The game was tied at 30 at halftime, but Ozarks outscored the War Hawks 24-16 in the third quarter and finished strong.

McMurry plays at Texas-Dallas on Monday.

Comets blaze past HSU

At Richardson, Rob Wade scored 16 points off the bench, and four other Texas-Dallas players scored in double figures as the Comets beat Hardin-Simmons 90-73 in an ASC game.

Hunter Stevens and Austin Page added 13 points each for the Comets (17-3, 12-1), while Kyle Poerschke had 12, and Nick Donnelly had 10.

Steven Quinn led the Cowboys (13-7, 8-8) with a game-high 25 points. Will Bartoszek added 12, while Stamford grad Austin Brewer and Jason Justice had 10 apiece.

HSU plays at Ozarks on Monday.

Ozarks holds off McMurry

At Clarksville, Arkansas, Josh Ukpe scored a game-high 31 points as Ozarks outscored McMurry 112-102 in an ASC game.

Kamren Roelke and Grayson Nix added 19 points each for the Eagles (8-12, 3-10). Sephan Tabe had 17, and Tim Eldrige had 16. Roelke had 11 assists.

Remy Minor led the War Hawks (6-14, 5-8) with 26 points. C.J. LeBlanc followed with 18, and Rob Charles had 14. Elijah Lomas (13), T.J. Hilliard (11) and Elias Garcia (10) also scored in double figures.

The teams combined to hit 28 of 67 3-point goals. McMurry converted 15-37, and the Eagles converted 13-30.

McMurry is at Texas-Dallas on Monday.
