Feb. 8—THOMASVILLE- Thomas County Central High School Spanish teacher Katie Parmer is January's TCCHS FCCLA/FGE Staff Member of the Month. Students nominate adult faculty and staff members who go above and beyond for their students.
Several pupils nominated the teacher, including Kennedy Laramore, who said Parmer goes out of her way to show support and care for her students.
Student Katie Parkerson claims she's never learned Spanish better than in Parmer's fun classroom.
"She's super energetic, and she's everyone's friend no matter how tired or exhausted she may be," Parkerson said. "She understands that we're high schoolers, helps us work out our problems, and talks to us if we have missing assignments or get a bad grade. You can tell that she truly cares for her students and just wants the best for them."
Parmer feels honored students chose her.
"I seriously love what I do every day," she said. "For me, it's so much more than grades and teaching Spanish. While these things are important, I am so lucky to be able to help these students as they prepare for their next step, whether it be college, the workforce, and/or the military."
Plus, she's back at her alma mater.
"It's even more fun doing this as an alum of this incredible school," Parmer said. "It's been awesome being back where I was once a student. Go Jackets!"
