Parrish HomeGoods store opens. Here’s what else is coming to Creekside Commons

Creekside Commons is waking up.

The 300,000-square-foot shopping center now has a second open anchor store, HomeGoods

The home decor store at 8740 U.S. 301 opened 8 a.m. Thursday. HomeGoods is part of the TJX Companies, which also include T.J. Maxx, Marshalls and HomeSense.

Creekside Commons first anchor, Lowe’s, opened Dec. 30.

The Parrish HomeGoods store is the third in Manatee County. The first opened in 2015 at 8213 Cooper Creek Blvd. The second opened in 2018 in the Shoppes of Paradise Bay at 7134 Cortez Road W.

Other stores which have opened in Creekside Commons include Pet Supplies Plus and Five Below.

Other retailers coming to the center, but not yet open, include Aldi, Good Liquid Brewing Company, Crunch Fitness, Ulta Beauty, Blossom Nail Spa and Cutting Loose Salon.

When fully completed, Creekside Commons will have about 30 stores and restaurants.

“Like all of our projects, Creekside Commons was developed with a focus on catering to the needs of the local community,” Mark Chait, Benderson Development’s executive director of leasing for the southeast, said in a press release.

“As Parrish continues to experience booming growth, we’re pleased to provide residents with much-needed, high-quality shopping, dining and services. This is a great location and retailer interest has been very high. In fact, the center is already 90 percent leased and committed,” Chait said.

The Creekside Commons project has a long history. It was first approved by Manatee County government in 2008, and put on hold when the housing market crashed that year.

The project was modified and reintroduced six years later. The Manatee County Commission approved the modifications in August 2014. Initially, Walmart was announced as the anchor for the project, but was later replaced by a Lowe’s home improvement store.

The first phase of Creekside Commons began in 2021. Benderson is working on the next phase of development, which includes five outparcel buildings along U.S. 301.

Resident interest in Creekside Commons has been high in the fast-growing Parrish community where shopping amenities are still catching up with new neighborhoods under construction.

Headquartered in University Park, Benderson Development is one of largest privately held real estate companies in the country. Founded in 1949, the company’s portfolio includes more than 800 properties totaling over 50 million square feet in 40 states.
