East Independence Boulevard reopened following crash involving power lines, police say
East Independence Boulevard near Matthews has reopened after being shut down for hours on Sunday due to a crash involving a power pole, according to police.
The Matthews Police Department said they responded to East Independence Boulevard at Sam Newell for a crash just after 7 a.m. that involved a power pole and took down power lines.

The road was shut down in both directions for nearly 12 hours, according to police.
Just after 7 p.m., police announced that the road was back open in both directions.
