A bicyclist was hit by three vehicles and killed on State Road 70 on Friday morning, Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash at 6:07 a.m. shut down traffic on S.R. 70 for a few hours before 10 a.m. A roadblock was set-up between 9th st. E. and 15th St. E.

The crash happened when a 55-year-old man from Bradenton was on a bicycle, crossing 70 east of the 11th Street Circle East intersection.

A 19-year-old Bradenton man in a truck was heading east on 70 and approaching the intersection, while a 53-year-old North Port woman in an SUV and a third unknown vehicle were heading west toward the intersection.

The bicyclist “traveled into the path” of the truck, and the truck hit the bicycle.

The SUV veered away but hit the bicyclist, and the third vehicle also hit the bicycle.

The crash remains under investigation.
