A crash on U.S. 19 at Haines Bayshore Road caused authorities to close the northbound lanes there Saturday afternoon, according to a Florida Department of Transportation Twitter account. The intersection is just north of Roosevelt Boulevard.

A motorcyclist crashed at approximately 2:30 p.m., said Sgt. Mike Blickensdorf of the Largo Police Department traffic safety unit.

No cars were believed to be involved in the crash, he said. The motorcyclist was transported to a nearby hospital for injuries. Blickensdorf did not identify the person or provide their age and condition. He said investigators are still looking into the cause of the crash.

The road was expected to open about 6:30 p.m. Until then, drivers were advised to take an alternate route.
