Opportunities to connect, give back and relax highlight what's happening in Springfield this weekend.

On Par for Pediatrics

Prepare for friendly competition with SIU Medicine at its On Par for Pediatrics golf outing on Friday.

The outing will take place at The Rail Golf Course, 1400 S. Club House Drive, from 11:30 a.m. until 7 p.m. The shotgun start is at 12:30 p.m.

Funds raised by the event will support pediatric patients by easing financial burdens of overnight lodging, food and transportation for families of patients needing extended treatments. A $125 entry fee per player will cover bag drop, golf and cart, on-course beverages, games, a goody bag and dinner.

Springfield news: For women rebuilding their lives, former Springfield yoga studio becomes 'a sanctuary'

Denim & Pearls Party

Grab a friend and plan to jam at the Denim and Pearls party hosted by the women of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated on Friday.

The event will take place at The Inn at 835 in Springfield from 8 p.m. until midnight.

A cash bar and bragging rights strolling competition featuring the divine nine will be included. Masks are required.

Parents Wild Night Out

Take a break from the kids by dropping them off at the Henson Robinson Zoo on Saturday.

Games, pizza and animal programming will be provided for children ages 6-12 under zoo crew care as parents enjoy a wild night out.

Drop off begins at 6 p.m. and pickup is from 8:30 to 9 p.m. A registration fee of $20 for residents or $25 for non-residents is required.

State of the Sistahood

Put on your pumps and join the dialogue of the State of the Sistahood networking and empowerment event on Saturday.

The event, presented by Transforming Life Connect LLC, will take place from noon to 4 p.m. at Venue on The Curve, 1029 Wabash Ave.

Vendors, a panel discussion and food catered by Sheila Dean will be available. Panelists include Nancy Collins, Shirley Hampton, Springfield Ald. Lakeisha Purchase and Alkynessa Miller.

Little Miracles 5K

Walk, run or stroll for a cause at the Little Miracles 5K in Washington Park on Saturday.

Attendees can choose to participate in either the 9 a.m. or 10 a.m. walk.

Proceeds from the event will help build a new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for premature and critically ill babies at HSHS St. John's Hospital. Trophies will be given to the person, teams and businesses who raise the most funds.

The 5K is open to all ages and abilities. A registration fee of $35 for adults and $25 for youth is required.

The Music of Mancini

The Hoogland Center for the Arts and Concordia Village will present "The Music of Mancini" on Sunday.

Jukebox Saturday Night will star in the performance as it celebrates the compositions of Henry Mancini and includes a narration of his life story and journey in Hollywood.

The concert will be held at 3 p.m. in the LRS Theater of the Hoogland Center for the Arts in downtown Springfield. Featured pieces include "The Pink Panther Theme," "Moon River," "Charade," "Baby Elephant Walk" and more.

Seat reservations are $32 for adults; $30 for seniors over 60; and $28 for students.
