Partners in two popular Fairport establishments will open a pizza place
When partners in two popular Fairport establishments noticed a former pizza place available nearby, they decided to join forces.
"We want to combine some things both of us do really well,” said Brendon Clar, co-owner of Compané Trattoria, an Italian restaurant in The Cannery in Fairport. His partners in the new venture are Daniel D'Angelantonio and Mike Mrzywka, co-owners of the sports bar Tin Cup Social, also located in The Cannery, as well as Tyler Rubino, who has worked at Compané for the past three years.
"We do pizza and Italian stuff. They do chicken and wings. We’re kind of smashing it all together," Clar said.
The name of the pizza place, Comp-Tin Pizza and Provisions, is a portmanteau of the partners' current business ventures.
The space at 1276 Fairport Road was previously home to The Pizza Mafia Grill, and before that, Bay & Goodman Pizza. A unique feature of the building is a drive-thru window, rare for pizza places.
The wood-fired pizzas served at Compané will not be making their way to the new spot. Instead it will offer a pan-risen Sicilian or grandma-style, as well as the Western New York style, with a crust that's not quite as thick.
"That’s what sells around here so you’ve got the people what they want," Clar said.
It will also serve wings and fried chicken sandwiches ― which are also on the menu at Tin Cup Social. Subs will be on the menu, constructed on house-made breads, which is something that's made daily at Compané.
Comp-Tin Pizza and Provisions will open with a counter service format and a small seating area. It will have a casual, playful atmosphere. "We want your kids’ soccer teams to come here after games,” D'Angelantonio said.
They are eyeing an opening date in October.
