Rivera was present Friday for an event to promote the new program.

“You can basically save two lives, you save that our veteran folks and the dog or the pets that are in the shelter,” Rivera said.

The new partnership will fill a great need. K-9′s for Warriors says their biggest challenge is finding enough shelter dogs to pair with veterans.
