Like many historic hotels, The Partridge Inn in Augusta, Georgia, began as a private residence. Situated on a hill within a tree-lined neighborhood, the stately 1890s mansion at the inn’s core sits on property first owned by George Walton, a Governor of Georgia and one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence.

The two-story home found new life after it was sold to New York hotelier Morris Partridge. Greatly expanded, it opened as The Partridge Inn in 1910 and the hotel became a social hub for affluent travelers and the who’s who.

The bottom level featured guest services such as a post office, bookstore, flower shop, barbershop, and a beauty parlor. Grand events were held in the hotel’s elegant ballroom and other spaces.

Staying True to Its Roots

Today, The Partridge Inn remains one of Augusta’s most beloved landmarks and a popular gathering spot. After nearly two years of renovations, the inn recently unveiled upgrades and modern amenities, while maintaining the authentic Southern charm and grandeur of its day.

From the redesigned rooftop bar, fresh décor and landscaping to additions like a bridal suite, little was left untouched during the makeover. The result is an enhanced guest experience at every turn.

Modern Luxury and Timeless Comforts

Each of the hotel’s 143 rooms and suites is unique in design and exudes polished Southern charm. The décor features elements like golf-inspired artwork and maps. Wallcoverings and textiles pull inspiration from the area highlighting rich hues of green, cream, and gold.

Framed memorabilia and a collection of black and white photographs line the hallways of each floor, telling the hotel’s story.

Elevated Southern Fare

Restaurant 8595, located on the second floor, is led by Executive Chef Thomas Jacobs, who takes classic southern fare to another level. Try the popular crispy duck fat fried chicken served with a decadent three-cheese mac and cheese, smoked turkey collard greens and homemade cornbread. If you can, save room for a dessert feature created by award-winning Pastry Chef Nick Pravator.

Enjoy your meal along with a quiet evening on the newly designed veranda. It’s also a perfect spot to savor the day with a proper cocktail, like an Azalea or Arnold Palmer.

Small Bites and Big Views

Lively Six South, the hotel’s recently opened rooftop bar, is quickly becoming a hot spot for both locals and guests. Here, you’ll find a menu of sharable small plates and seafood and raw bar options. The redesigned space is stylish with comfortable seating areas – perfect for taking in skyline views.

More to Explore

While there are plenty of options to hit the greens during a stay, there’s much more than golf to explore nearby. Just a few blocks away is the Augusta Riverwalk, a multi-level trail along the banks of the Savannah River, packed with shopping, galleries, entertainment, dining options and family-friendly activities.
