Parts of Mineola placed under boil water notice

UPDATE: The City of Mineola said they got the water back on in the area north of Loop 564 but the boil water notice is still in place and air is still in the lines so water could appear cloudy.

MINEOLA, Texas (KETK) – According to the City of Mineola, part of the city is under a boil water notice following damage to a water main.

Boil water notice do’s and don’ts

The City of Mineola told KETK that a contractor striking a water main has caused residents north of Loop 564, on North Pacific Street near Taco Bell, Whataburger and First National Bank of East Texas, as well as residents of the Angel Pines subdivision to be under the boil water notice.

Officials said there is no timeframe as to when the notice will end but the City is working on fixing the damage as quickly as possible.

During a boil water notice, any water used for consumption of any kind, including drinking, showering and brushing teeth, should first be brought to a rolling boil for 2 minutes. In lieu of boiling water, people can also purchase bottled water.
