Partying like it's 2073!

They partied like it was 2073! Party-goers at the Children's Museum of Oak Ridge Gala on Nov. 17 wore futuristic-looking clothes and costumes to participate in the festivities and fun as they looked forward to the museum's 100th birthday in 2073. This was the final event celebrating the museum's 50th birthday. Guest speaker Amy Elliott of Oak Ridge National Laboratory talked about new discoveries in science and technology that could be seen in the future, bringing along her 3D-printed statue. Her statue adorned the lawn of the Smithsonian Castle in Washington, D.C., as part of the "IfThenSheCan" exhibit.

Amy Elliott, of Oak Ridge National Laboratory, wore 3D-printed designs she created on her dress and brought her 3D-printed statue, created when she was among 120 women honored for excelling in STEM with statues on the Smithsonian Museum lawn in 2022. Group Leader in Robotics and Intelligent Systems at ORNL, she described discoveries in science and technology as the guest speaker at the Children’s Museum Gala.
