Pasco street was shut down during tense police standoff with lumber-wielding man
A man was handcuffed in a Pasco automotive towing yard after an hour-long standoff Monday.
Initial reports stated that the man brought a sword to Casaday Bee-Line Service and Towing shortly before noon, because he was upset about his vehicle being towed.
Police and fire soon surrounded the yard in the 1700 block of A Street, and started to negotiate with the man. They also shut down the street in front of the business.
The yard is across the street from the Pasco Youth Baseball Complex and near the Tri-Cities Animal Shelter.
Officers could be seen talking with a man with no shirt inside of the fenced compound. An apparent crisis counselor appeared to be trying to help him.
At one point, he was also carrying a large piece of wood, but he wasn’t seen with a sword.
After about an hour, the man surrendered and was taken into custody. It’s not clear at this point whether he will face charges.
