Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office warns of scammers

PASQUOTANK COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) — The Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about scammers impersonating deputies.

According to the sheriff’s office, the scammers call potential victims and tell them there is a warrant for their arrest. The scammers then tell the person to send them cash, checks, and/or gift cards to resolve the issue.

As a reminder, law enforcement will never make calls or send emails demanding money or threatening arrest.

Anyone who receives this type of call can contact their local law enforcement agency it they are unsure of its legitimacy.
