Passaic County Film Festival returns in April with 85 films

The Passaic County Film Festival will return in April to the Public Safety Academy in Wayne.

Officials this week announced the 19th annual event will be held on April 29 on the Passaic County Community College campus at 300 Oldham Road.

Which films will be included?

The one-day showcase will feature short films from county-based high school and university students as well as independent filmmakers. Award winners will be shown in categories including general short film, public service announcement and music video, and documentaries. The films were judged by members of the Passaic County Film Commission in February, officials said.

“We are thrilled that 85 films were submitted this year by the many talented students and independent filmmakers from Passaic County," said Pat Lepore, the county commissioner director.

It's free to the public

The festival will be free and open to the public starting at 11:30 a.m. Registration is required and can be completed online via the county website or by calling 973-569-4720.

The festival is sponsored by the Passaic County Board of County Commissioners. Additional financial support comes from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, Bascom Corporation, Lakeland Bank, Passaic County Community College Foundation and the PSEG Foundation.
