A 54-year-old woman who died after a Mason County motorcycle crash on Sunday has been identified.

Roberta Dodge, a passenger on the motorcycle, died on Tuesday in Seattle due to multiple blunt force injuries, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office. Her manner of death has been deemed an accident.

Dodge suffered injuries after the motorcycle driver, a 58-year-old Olympia man, collided with a cable barrier post, according to a Washington State Patrol memo issued Wednesday. The collision occurred at 6:27 p.m. on U.S. 101 near Kennedy Creek Natural Area Preserve.

The driver was traveling south on the highway when he failed to negotiate a curve and left the roadway. Dodge was ejected from the motorcycle when the driver hit the barrier post, the State Patrol memo says. She landed in the first lane of the roadway.

Meanwhile, the vehicle crossed all lanes and exited the roadway to the right, according to State Patrol. The driver then struck a tree and was ejected into a ravine along with his motorcycle. Dodge and the driver were transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

State Patrol blamed the crash on the driver being impaired and driving too fast for the conditions. The driver is expected to face charges of vehicular assault and driving under the influence. The Olympian does not name those accused of crimes until they appear in court.

State Patrol blocked the southbound lanes of U.S. 101 at the scene for more than two hours.

Dodge and the driver both wore helmets, the State Patrol reported. The motorcycle, a 2008 Honda GL1800, was totaled in the crash.
