Passengers Evacuated as Fire Spreads Through Ship in Indonesia

A fire aboard a large motor ship prompted the evacuation of nearly 200 passengers and crew near the Indonesian island of Limafatola in the Molucca Sea on Saturday, May 29.

The Indonesian National Search and Rescue Agency (BASARNAS) said its office in Ternate City received a report of the fire at 8.30 am Saturday, and deployed a rescue team to the scene. This footage released by BASARNAS shows evacuation efforts on Saturday as some of the 181 passengers and 14 crew were transported to safety on nearby islands.
