Pat Connaughton signs contract extension with the Milwaukee Bucks through the 2025-26 season

Pat Connaughton did his team a solid at the start of free agency.

The Milwaukee Bucks returned the favor late Tuesday night.

The results were the 29-year-old opting into his 2022-23 player option for about $5.7 million to help ease the Bucks' luxury tax burden this year, and the team following that up by giving him a three-year, $28.5 million contract extension that will run through 2025-26.

Connaughton's signing, which was announced by his agency via ESPN late Tuesday night, now gives the Bucks six players with guaranteed contracts beyond this coming season, as he joins Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jrue Holiday, Bobby Portis, Grayson Allen and rookie MarJon Beauchamp.

Khris Middleton and Jevon Carter have player options for 2023-24.
