The Pataskala Rotary Club is pleased to announce the 2023 Pataskala Street Fair Parade Grand Marshals: Bill and Carolyn Hayes!

Grand Marshals Bill and Carolyn Hayes will kick off the exciting annual West Licking Firefighters Street Fair Parade on Saturday, Aug. 19, at noon, from Foundation Park, proceed down Oak Meadow Drive on their way through town ending on Mill Street where the parade officially ends.

The couple have active in the Pataskala community after settling here about 50 years ago from Reynoldsburg. Their children Scott, Dan, and Sallie were raised in Pataskala. Scott and Dan have joined their father’s Pataskala law firm, Hayes Law Office. Sallie is a middle school teacher in Waunakee, WI. Currently a grandson, Will, is a Pataskala Police Officer.

Bill received a master's degree from Ohio State University. He also graduated from Capital University Law School and has practiced law in Pataskala for almost 40 years. Bill has an extensive public service resume, including serving in the Ohio House of Representatives and as the Licking County Prosecutor.

Bill and Carolyn served on the West Licking Historical Society’s Historical Publication Committee in 1999 and have remained active members of the local historical society. The couple also supports Heartbeats of Licking County where Carolyn has served as a volunteer counselor. Carolyn is a Pataskala Library Board member, having served multiple terms.

In 2001, Bill and Carolyn were the Chairmen for the Pataskala Sesquicentennial Committee. The big anniversary celebration was very successful with numerous old-time activities and projects for all ages, topped off with a huge Street Fair parade.

The Hayes family is very involved with Tri-Village Christian Church. Bill, a former Sunday School teacher, and Praise Band member, currently serves as an elder. Carolyn has served both as a Sunday School teacher and a choir member. She recently initiated a very special and unique Grandmothers Prayer Group.

Rotarian Judy Baird remarked that the selection of Bill and Carolyn Hayes as the 2023 Street Fair Parade’s "Grand Marshals" was an easy decision for the Pataskala Rotary Club considering the couple’s long and extensive involvement in community activities and projects, local government, schools, their church, and Licking County Court system.

Although Pataskala is a rapidly expanding city in Licking County, the city has managed to remain a friendly, caring, and "small" hometown where its residents eagerly anticipate the annual West Licking Firefighters Association’s August Street Fair and Parade. The Pataskala Rotary Club is currently welcoming registrations for the 2023 parade. The Parade Entry is posted on the club’s website.

Again, the Pataskala Rotary Club is extremely proud to recognize and honor Bill and Carolyn as the 2023 Pataskala Street Fair Parade Grand Marshals.
