Pataskala's Tina Sutermeister elected president-elect of the Engineers Foundation of Ohio

Tina Sutermeister, PE, F.NSPE, has been elected president-elect of the Engineers Foundation of Ohio (EFO) at the organization's 58th Annual Meeting. As president-elect of EFO, she will help guide the educational and service activities for the engineering profession in Ohio.

Sutermeister worked in the telecommunications industry for more than 30 years as a distinguished member of the technical staff. Before her retirement, she was a lead solution architect/systems engineer and led a large scale project to optimize video delivery to wireless network and monetize web and video traffic for telecommunications operators with a revenue of multi-million dollars per year. Sutermeister defined and created high and low-level system requirements for Linux-based solutions resulting in successful deployments at 22 domestic and three international sites and interfaced four products from vendors located globally to provide customers with an end-to-end solution. She received many awards throughout her career including the Bell Labs Presidents' Gold award.

Sutermeister has also served as a contractor for Nationwide Insurance managing a several million dollar annuity project that spans multiple divisions of Nationwide Insurance.

Throughout her career, Sutermeister has been involved with the Franklin County Chapter of the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers, the Engineers Foundation of Ohio and the National Society of Professional Engineers. She is also very well known at the local, state and national levels for her involvement with the MATHCOUNTS program since the program's inception in 1983. At the national level, Sutermeister has served as the Professional Engineers in Industry (PEI) vice-chair for the Central Region. She has held many chapter offices including president, vice president, secretary, young engineer trustee and PEI trustee.

  • OSPE President Travis Rhoades, P.E., of Swanton, Ohio

EFO was established in 1964 to provide a centralized means of funding and administering a variety of engineering, math and science programs. Many EFO programs are designed to increase the mathematical, science and technical aptitudes of elementary, middle and high school students. EFO works hand-in-hand with industry, school systems and colleges and universities to stimulate interest and to provide the knowledge for students to become engineers.
