This is how Paterson cops raised $25K for St. Jude

PATERSON — More than 100 Paterson police officers participated in the department’s recent “no shave” fundraiser, generating $25,000 in donations for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Sgt. David D’Arco said the latest efforts raise the department’s total contribution to St. Jude during the past six years to $139,350.

“One of my proudest days of the year,” said D’Arco, a cancer survivor who organizes the annual event.

D’Arco lost one of his eyes to cancer and now works desk duty in the department’s records division.

In order to allow its officers to participate in the fundraiser, the Paterson police department temporarily waives its prohibition on facial hair.
