After Patiently Waiting For 1,145 Days, Geronimo the Shelter Dog Finds His Perfect Forever Home

Geronimo found a forever family with help from Cleveland.com and the Humane Society of Summit County

Geronimo is diving into home life after a long, long wait.

The shelter pup spent 1,145 days at the Humane Society of Summit County patiently waiting to be adopted, according to the Twinsburg, Ohio, shelter.

After three years of enchanting rescue workers, the 6-year-old dog has fallen in love with a forever family. Geronimo went home with his new pet parents on Saturday.

The American Staffordshire terrier/pit bull/Mastiff mix was helped by a bit of good press. In December, Cleveland.com wrote an article about the Geronimo’s predicament. The site also shared a video of the pooch playing outside and showing off his basic commands.

Cleveland.com’s story was shared over 46,000 times by animal lovers dedicated to finding a home for the sweet, energetic dog.

Their efforts worked! After a loving send-off, Geronimo is now enjoying life as a family pet.
