Patients and Staff Rescued From Hospital Stranded by Flooding in China's Henan Province

Patients and staff were evacuated from a hospital in Zhengzhou on July 22 after severe flooding left the building stranded.

Around 5,000 people were transported from the hospital after flooding left the facility engulfed with water, according to local reports.

At least 33 people were killed and eight others were reported missing as of Thursday after record flooding inundated China’s Henan province, local media reported.

On July 23, Henan Meteorological Bureau said 133 weather stations had reported accumulated rainfall exceeding 50 millimeters (about two inches), including 39 stations that recorded more than 100 millimeters (about four inches). Credit: Jiangsu Fire via Storyful
