Patrick J. DiPaolo Scholarships awarded to 10 Erie County student-athletes

The Patrick J. DiPaolo Scholarship Fund awarded 10 Erie County student-athletes with scholarships of $1,000 each during a recent banquet in the Sacred Heart Church auditorium.

It was the eighth annual awarding of the scholarships in memory of DiPaolo, who died in 2013 at age 44. DiPaolo, a former football coach at Cathedral Prep and Central Tech and teacher in the Erie School District, was principal at East High at the time of his untimely death.

Since the inception of the award, the scholarship has awarded 92 student-athletes for a total of $92,000.
