Despite the euphoria in Arrowhead, some people ripped Matthews for spraying booze on people without their permission in frigid weather.
The ramifications of your actions:
- innocent fans drenched in cheap champagne possibly leading to frost bite or even hypothermia
- children with alcohol in their system
You need to take responsibility for your actions and issue a public apology— nuk (@nukRBCFHpod) January 24, 2022
Please don’t be proud of this. Dumping liquid on unsuspecting people is not cool. Give the people in your box a shower next time

It’s a cold night, you’ve got a long walk to your car & a long wait in the parking lot looming, & some moron in a suite decides it’s a perfect idea to spray champagne on you. Players can shower after getting doused with champagne. You’ll reek for a while.pic.twitter.com/WbhLTgxPHG

The @NFL needs to step up and do the right thing. Ban everyone in the Mahomes family from every single stadium in the league. Enough is enough. #NFL #ChiefsKingdom

On Tuesday, Matthews seemingly addressed the backlash, writing, “I just wish I could do what I want without getting attacked every week.”

Matthews is no stranger to controversy. After the Chiefs lost to the Bucs in last year’s Super Bowl, Matthews called ESPN out for posting images of a flustered Mahomes.
Cool ESPN, love the support of a major sports platform for one of the best players in the league...
