If there is a big sporting event on the horizon, chances are that Jim McIngvale has or will wager a lot of money on it.

McIngvale owns Gallery Furniture in Houston and is better known as Mattress Mack. Last year, he raked in roughly $75 million on $10 million worth of bets placed on the Astros to win the World Series, per ESPN.

A CBS Sports story noted Mattress Mack bet a total of $4.05 million on the University Houston to win the NCAA Tournament. So, yeah, McIngvale doesn’t always win.

In fact, he lost a cool $3 million while betting against the Chiefs during their postseason run to the Super Bowl LIV championship. That included a pair of $500,000 wagers on the 49ers in the Super Bowl.

When McIngvale met Patrick Mahomes on Saturday at the Kentucky Derby, guess what the conversation was about.

“You cost me millions betting against you,” McIngvale told Mahomes.

Mahomes then offered a piece of advice for McIngvale.

“I appreciate it. Sorry about that one,” Mahomes said. “You gotta be with me next time.”

That’s good advice from Mahomes.

As NBC Sports’ Peter King noted, the Chiefs have 62 wins (including playoffs) over the last four seasons. Second on the list: the Bills with 51. Green Bay is third (49).

“Eleven more wins than any team since 2019 qualifies as a wow,” King wrote.
